Answer by gands4ever
a wrench or a good sized socket and ratchet. a 2×4 wedged in between the blade and deck to keep blade from turning. as far as sharpening them you will need a hand held grinder you can do it with a good file but it takes a while if your blades are bad.

I just got a new John Deere LA 115 riding lawnmower. It’s a different brand and more advanced than the one I used to have. I had trouble starting it according to the directions which is to start it when the engine is cold with the throttle pushed to Full (rabbit). It will not start with throttle pushed all the way up, but it does start easily with the throttle halfway.

Is this normal or does it indicate that there is something in the motor isn’t adjusted right?

Ok, this is a mower that SELF ADJUSTS the idle on it. there is no place to move a handle to make it go faster. Does that make a difference?

Best answer:

Answer by renpen
On top of the carburetor there should be a small screw with a spring on it. That would be the idle stop screw. With the mower running screw that screw slowly clockwise until it is idling as fast as you want it. Not cutting well probably has more to do with the blade. Maybe it needs sharpening.

Answer by Somethingtotry
Hold the brake pedal with your foot. Press the start/run switch all the way forward, turn the key. When it starts, put the start/run switch in the run mode. If it doesn’t start right away, put it in run mode, turn the ignition key, push the start/run forward for an instant and then return to run position.
